Continuing Professional Development

The Health Resource Centre supports DFID staff development through organising Continuing Professional Development days on priority issues. The final reports and presentations given on the day are available via the links below.

• DFID's Continuing Professional Development Day on Health Workers: 5th November 2008

  The aims of the CPD day on health workers were to review the state of the international response to the global shortage of health workers, particularly in light of G8 and Call to Action commitments, identifying DFID's role in facilitating progress at country, regional and global levels and provide an update on latest evidence/best practice on how to address the global shortage of health workers.

• DFID's Continuing Professional Development Day on Non-Communicable Diseases: 17 July 2008

  DFID’s Health Strategy: Working Together for Better Health (2007) highlighted the importance of doing more on non-communicable diseases and DFID’s Research Strategy 2008 – 2013 makes a commitment do more research on these over the next five years. DFID has prioritised raising the profile of NCDs, and the CPD day contributed to determining the direction of future research and programme development in this area.

• DFID's Continuing Professional Development Day on Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Health: 30 April 2008

  In response to policy recommendations on sanitation and health by the Parliamentary International Development Committee, DFID held a CPD day to identify ways in which DFID staff in HQ and country offices could work more closely together on water, sanitation, hygiene and health and secondly to identify key research areas.
