About the HRCThe DFID Health Resource Centre is an international consortium funded by DFID to provide high quality advice, expertise and knowledge in public health and health systems in low and middle income countries to DFID staff and partners. This includes provision of consultancy services for DFID country offices and headquarters, as well as information services for the use of DFID staff and the wider development community. The HRC is managed by a core team of health and health systems specialists and administrative staff based at HLSP Ltd in London. The information services team is based at the Institute of Development Studies in Brighton, and at HLSP. The HRC draws on the expertise and resources of its consortium partners, and works with a worldwide network of national and international collaborating agencies and individuals. HRC servicesInformation (core) servicesThe HRC provides a range of tailored information services for the use of DFID staff and external audiences. These services facilitate sharing of knowledge on health, health systems and HIV and AIDS across DFID and among the national and international development community. Information services include:
The HRC can provide additional support to DFID knowledge sharing and communications through its commissioned services, outlined below. Consultancy (commissioned) servicesThe HRC provides consultancy services to DFID on request. The HRC’s areas of expertise include pro-poor health systems and public health including communicable diseases, HIV and AIDS, sexual and reproductive health, and maternal, neonatal and child health. Typical assignments include country-based work on the design, monitoring and evaluation of health programmes and projects, support to policy formulation and strategic planning, and organisation of events such as workshops or meetings.
